Clarice Sevegney & Crow Cianciola
Clarice Sevegney grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the small village of Republic. At the age of 14 she heard the strong inner call to religious life and entered the convent at that time. Now 80 years old, Clarice is a Dominican Sister of Racine, Wisconsin. While on a sabbatical year in 2007, she met Crow Cianciola in San Francisco. In a very real sense, Crow “interned” Clarice in understanding persons of the LGBTQIA community. Clarice has served this community as an advocate for over 20 years. “I’ve been given the gift of acceptance of others. Part of my integrity has always been to follow the inner call.”
Crow Cianciola is an artist, preparator, parent, partner, camper, and does a wicked Ethel Merman impersonation. Crow is the Exhibitions Fabrication Supervisor at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco and has an MFA from California College of the Arts. Crow is able to drop words like “the museum is not neutral” casually into conversation and is a faithful friend to Sister Clarice for many years.
